Organic Genmaicha Green Tea from Kagoshima, Japan

Organic Genmaicha Green Tea is a traditional Japanese blend of Sencha green tea with roasted and popped brown rice, sourced from Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan. Fresh and vegetal with warm, toasted notes, Genmaicha brings together the character of Japanese green tea with the comforting flavour of roasted rice.

The result is a beautifully balanced tea: smooth and refreshing, yet distinctly nutty and aromatic. Roasting the brown rice develops its characteristic toasted flavour, while occasional popped grains give Genmaicha its recognizable appearance.

What Makes Genmaicha Special?

Genmaicha has been enjoyed in Japan for generations and is one of the country's most distinctive everyday teas. Combining green tea with roasted rice creates a flavour quite different from Sencha alone.

The Sencha contributes fresh, vegetal green-tea notes, while the roasted brown rice adds warmth, nuttiness and a lightly toasted character. Together they create a satisfying cup with less of the pronounced grassy character some people associate with straight green tea.

Sencha & Roasted Brown Rice

Our Genmaicha is made with organic Sencha green tea and organic roasted and popped brown rice. There are no added flavours or sweeteners — its distinctive aroma and flavour come entirely from the tea and roasted rice.

It is delicious throughout the day and pairs particularly well with food. Enjoy it warm for its comforting toasted character or prepare it chilled for a crisp, refreshing Japanese green tea.
