The use of dandelion was first recorded in writing in the Tang Materia Medica (659 B.C.E.), and then later noted by Arab physicians in the 10th century. Dandelion root helps liver and stimulates the release of bile from the gallbladder that make it a great detoxing herb. Dandelion root tea may aid digestion, help regulate blood sugar and contains phytochemicals that may reduce inflammation throughout the body. In traditional Chinese medicine, dandelion has been used to treat stomach problems, appendicitis, and breast problems, such as inflammation or lack of milk flow.
Brewing recommendations: Place 1 to 2 tsp into boiling water for 5 minutes, let steep until cool or for 10 minutes. Strain and enjoy.
