Eleuthero Root – Siberian Ginseng & Traditional Chinese Medicine

Eleuthero Root, also known as Siberian Ginseng, is prepared from Eleutherococcus senticosus, a woody shrub native to northeastern Asia. naturally caffeine free, Eleuthero has a long history in traditional herbal medicine and is especially recognized for its association with vitality, stamina and the body's response to stress.

Often described as an adaptogenic herb, Eleuthero has traditionally been used in preparations intended to support physical endurance, mental alertness and general well-being.

Eleuthero is sometimes called Siberian Ginseng because of its traditional applications, although it is botanically distinct from true ginseng species belonging to the Panax genus.

A Traditional Herb of Chinese Medicine

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Eleuthero is known as Ci Wu Jia and has traditionally been used to support Qi, the vital energy associated with the body's normal functioning.

It is traditionally associated with strengthening the Spleen and Kidney systems, supporting vitality and addressing patterns of fatigue or weakness.

Within TCM, these references describe traditional functional concepts rather than the anatomical organs as understood in modern Western medicine.

Eleuthero is generally regarded as a warming herb in traditional Chinese herbal practice.

Eleuthero & Adaptogenic Traditions

Eleuthero is one of the botanicals most commonly associated with the concept of adaptogens, a term used in herbal medicine for plants traditionally believed to support the body's ability to respond to physical and environmental stress.

Its reputation grew particularly during twentieth-century research in Russia and the former Soviet Union, where Eleuthero was studied in relation to endurance, fatigue and performance.

Naturally Occurring Plant Compounds

Eleuthero Root contains a variety of naturally occurring plant constituents, including eleutherosides, polysaccharides and phenolic compounds.

These compounds have been investigated for their biological activity and contribute to the ongoing scientific interest in Eleuthero.

As a whole-root preparation, Eleuthero differs from concentrated or standardized extracts, which may contain different quantities of specific constituents.
