Oregano Leaf from Turkey – Origanum vulgare

Oregano Leaf is a fragrant Mediterranean herb celebrated for its bold aroma, distinctive flavour and longstanding place in traditional herbal and culinary practices. Sourced from Turkey, our Origanum vulgare offers the characteristic warmth and aromatic intensity that make oregano a favourite in both the kitchen and herbal tea preparations.

A pure, single-ingredient herb with nothing added.

A Mediterranean Herb with Centuries of Tradition

Oregano has been valued throughout the Mediterranean for generations, particularly in Greek, Turkish and other regional culinary traditions.

A member of the mint family, Lamiaceae, Oregano is recognized for its small aromatic leaves and naturally occurring essential oil constituents.

Historically, the herb was appreciated not only as a seasoning but also as an ingredient in traditional European herbal preparations.

Its distinctive aroma, warm flavour and versatility have made it an enduring part of Mediterranean botanical culture.

Oregano in Traditional Herbal Medicine

Oregano has a longstanding history in European and Mediterranean herbalism, where its leaves have traditionally been prepared as infusions associated with digestive comfort and seasonal respiratory well-being.

In traditional herbal practices, Oregano was commonly used in preparations associated with digestion, particularly following meals.

It also appeared in traditional preparations for coughs and seasonal respiratory discomfort.

These historical uses reflect traditional herbal knowledge rather than established clinical effects of Oregano tea.

Naturally Occurring Botanical Compounds

Oregano contains a variety of naturally occurring plant compounds, including rosmarinic acid, flavonoids and aromatic constituents such as carvacrol and thymol.

These compounds have attracted scientific interest for their antioxidant and antimicrobial properties in laboratory research.

The composition of Oregano varies according to growing conditions, plant variety and preparation method. Research involving concentrated extracts or essential oils should not be considered equivalent to drinking an infusion of dried Oregano Leaf.

A Beautifully Versatile Culinary Herb

Oregano is among the most recognizable herbs in Mediterranean cooking, appreciated for its warm, slightly peppery flavour and distinctive aroma.

Its bold character complements tomato-based dishes, roasted vegetables, legumes, soups, sauces and savoury herb blends.

Oregano can also be enjoyed as a traditional herbal infusion, offering a robust alternative to milder floral or leafy teas.
