Rose petals are high in vitamin C and contain a wealth of polyphenol antioxidants (including anthocyanins), as well as ellagic acid and quercetin. All of these antioxidants help to fight free radical damage in the body and help lower inflammation. Rose petals have a natural laxative effect that may support a healthy digestive system, and are a natural diuretic supporting a healthy urinary tract. Also, rose petals have been shown to provide relief from menstrual cramps.
Rose petals can be used in a variety of ways, from culinary uses and tea infusions to body care, baths, herbal sachets and more.
Brewing Recommendations: Heat a cup of water until it is just about ready to boil, then add a couple teaspoons of the rose petals. Steep for about three minutes. If you are making this tea with fresh rose petals, boil about three cups of water, then add about two cups of fresh rose petals. Simmer for about five minutes, then allow to cool to a drinkable temperature.
