Guduchi is a herbaceous vine of the family Menispermaceae indigenous to tropical regions of the Indian subcontinent. Guduchi, also known as Amrit or Nectar, is an important Ayurvedic herb. In Sanskrit, Guduchi means "that which protects the body from diseases."
Based on Ayurveda it is an adaptogen that supports the body's natural response to daily stress and one of the few tridoshic immune-boosting herbs. Ayurvedic practitioners have found Guduchi to be helpful for inflammatory conditions caused by Pitta's excess heat and Vata conditions affecting the joints, spasms, skin and digestion.
Guduchi is the only Ayurvedic herb known that can get rid of amavisha (reactive toxins generated inside the body) and at the same time clear garavisha (ex: pesticides) and reestablish the intelligence of the body once it removes the toxins.
Guduchi has been used traditionally in India to promote healthy skin and has been found very effective in chronic skin disorders such as psoriasis or eczema. Guduchi can be useful in reducing the side effect of chemotherapy and for imbalances caused by excessive use of alcohol and recreational drugs.
Guduchi is also commonly used in Ayurveda as an anti-inflammatory and has been used for centuries to treat inflammatory joint conditions such as arthritis.
