Chaga mushroom grows on birch trees and is one of the highest antioxidants in the world. Chaga is an adaptogen, which means its compounds increase the body’s ability to adapt to stress, fatigue, anxiety and changing situations. Our wild Canadian Chaga mushroom tea is ground to the perfect chunk size for making tea, chunks are small enough to get exposed to water, yet not too small which makes re-brewing easy. This chunk size is also great for making tinctures.
Place 1.5 to 2 tablespoons of chaga chunks per litre of water into a glass, ceramic or stainless steel pot (not aluminum) and add clean water.
Heat gently so it simmers slowly until 90 degrees (below boiling), remove heat, keep the pot covered with a lid and let stay overnight (at least 3 hours). Reheat the pot to your desired drinking temperature and enjoy the tea of the king of medicinal mushrooms.
It's best is to use a strainer to only extract the tea and leave the chaga chunks in the pot with a little extra water and heat for re-brewing. You can re-brew each batch many times, the brown color is a good indicator of its potency. A mild brown is still a good tea but if you want the dark strong consistency, you can add half a tablespoon dried chaga to the existing batch of your tea. If the pot is covered and there is nothing mixed with chaga, you can use the pot for many weeks.
To enjoy chaga iced tea, simply extract your tea and place in fridge. The cold tea can be used as a base for smoothies.
