Dandelion leaf is traditionally used inHerbal Medicine to help treat digestive upset (dyspepsia) and to help increase bile flow (choleretic).
Historically, Dandelion leaf has been valued for its diuretic properties, meaning it promotes urine production, which was believed to help cleanse the body of toxins. Additionally, it was used to stimulate appetite, aid digestion, and as a liver tonic.
Dandelion has a place in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) as well. In TCM, it is used to support liver health and promote detoxification. It is also believed to have cooling properties and is used to clear heat from the body.
Recommended dose (Adults 18 years and over): 1 tablespoon, 3 times per day.
Infusion: Use 1 tablespoon per cup (250ml) of boiling water. Steep 10-15 minutes. Drink 1 cup, 3 times per day.
Duration of use: Consult a health care professional if symptoms persist beyond 2 weeks.
Contraindication: Do not use this product if you have heart disease, high or low blood pressure, kidney or liver disorder, diabetes or edema (swelling of hands, face and feet) or are taking products containing diuretics.
