Bacopa monnieri is a wetland perennial, native to India and Sri Lanka. Brahmi has traditionally been used in Ayurvedic medicine for its beneficial qualities and for balancing all three doshas. Bacopa monnieri (Brahmi) is a circulatory tonic and according to Ayurveda, it revitalizes the brain cells and enhances memory, focus, and healthy brain functioning. It possess adaptogenic and antioxidant properties and it has been traditionally used in treating inflammations and anemia, and in skin conditions with an underlying nervous imbalance. It has been also used to treat insomnia. From the Ayurvedic perspective, it is one of the most sattvic herbs.
